Jim Storie

President and Chief Executive Officer, The Vancouver Trolley Company

jimstorie80x120.jpgJim is the President and CEO of The Vancouver Trolley Company, one of Vancouver's best known sightseeing companies. The Vancouver Trolley Company has grown under Jim's direction from a 6 vehicle, seventeen employee seasonal business in 1996 to a 33 vehicle, year round operation, with over 150 employees. This growth was generated through working with local attractions to establish mutually beneficial partnerships aimed at assisting all parties in attracting more customers and increasing revenues. In addition, the Company has developed new products to create incremental off season revenue streams so that the company can continue to grow and maintain financial stability.

Jim was born in the City of Vancouver and raised in Vancouver and Burnaby. He attended Simon Fraser University and B.C.I.T. In 2006, he received his Bachelor of Hospitality Management Degree through the Executive Cohort Program at Vancouver Community College. Mr. Storie completed the Institute of Corporate Director's Governance Essentials Program in 2006 and the Director's Education Program (DEP 6) in September of 2009. Mr. Storie obtained his ICD.D in November of 2009.

Mr. Storie has been an active participant in industry and community organizations. He is the Board Chair of Vancouver's The Arts Club Theatre Company and Immediate Past-chair of the Council of Tourism Associations of British Columbia and sits of the boards of Vancouver Community College and Action Line Housing. He is a Past Chair of the Boards of Tourism Vancouver, Action Line Housing and the Seton Villa Society and formerly sat on the boards of Vancouver Coast and Mountain Tourism Association, H.R. MacMillan Space Science Centre, The Van Dusen Botanical Gardens Association and The B.C. Trucking Association.
