President and Chief Executive Officer, Travel Manitoba
For more than 35 years, Hubert Mesman has dedicated his professional life to a variety of tourism marketing and consulting positions. Currently the first President and CEO of Manitoba’s Provincial Crown Tourism Agency, Travel Manitoba, Hubert previously was the Assistant Deputy Minister of Tourism with the Manitoba Department of Culture, Heritage and Tourism.
Hubert successfully managed the transition of the government Tourism Division to a Crown agency. He has championed a wide variety of projects with Manitoba’s tourism and business community. His many projects include a successful bid for and hosting of the 1999 Pan American Games, coordinated divestiture negotiations for a Crown held resort and golf course and the development of an Aboriginal tourism strategy for Manitoba. Hubert has also provided tourism destination consulting services in South Africa, the Caribbean and Canada’s North.
He continues to be actively involved in major event bid acquisitions in partnership with Tourism Winnipeg and this year championed a successful year long Manitoba Homecoming project.
Hubert has served on numerous national, regional and local industry boards and committees including the Tourism Alliance for Western Canada, the Provincial and Territorial Tourism Industry Association and Tourism Winnipeg.
Hubert has been an active member of the Tourism Industry Association of Canada for many years. He has been a strong advocate for a national tourism strategy and dedicated his time and expertise in developing the Federal Tourism Strategy frame work.
